mixer control by midi commands

Post by stuartmacg »

I just want to select/mix signals generated by Pianoteq (piano synth) and qsynth (or other to be discovered sources), under control of midi commands generated by the Akai LPD8 pad, which sits on the piano. (all running under Linux with Ubuntu Studio loaded)

I am using qjackctl to link things up.

I can control the pianoteq software easily, but have not found out how to control qsynth by midi command.

jack_mixer says it can be controlled by midi, but I have no idea how to do it - what commands, what channels....

The non-mixer may be better, and associated non- stuff instead of jack?

This is all a but overwhelming. I just want to play my digital piano and select and modify sounds using the LPD8 piano top control pad.

The LPD8 can be programmed to generate control change or program change midi outputs, and I can use qmidirout to re-map these.
Is there any software module which can detect a midi command and issue more than one output command....?
