Hello! I am happy to come into world of audio on Linux. But I know nothing! )) Can you help me to make first steps?
I am using Echo AudioFire 4 via thunderbolt-firewire adapter. This configuration of hardware is working fine on Windows. Debian had recognized adapter, i found it in /sys/bus/thunderbolt/devices/*/device_name file (named as "Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter"). This part is OK i think.
FFADO mixer says that: Could not communicate with the FFADO DBus service.
I have installed alsa and jackd2.
Why my configuration is not working?

Re: I am newbee! AudioFire connection
Hi and welcome! I don't use firewire on linux (yet! I do have audiofire boxes that I've used before on mac so maybe this too will happen), but:
- do you have dbus running, and
- do you have ffado-dbus-server package installed and running?

- do you have ffado-dbus-server package installed and running?

Re: I am newbee! AudioFire connection
$ dbus-launch
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS=unix:abstract=/tmp/dbus-mMZSAtzOFV,guid=5b6302e21b1c066a086f1dc05ff0ae28
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_PID=1745
DBUS_SESSION_BUS_WINDOWID=106954753
But ffado-dbus-server returns a message:
1609608808539768: (ffado-dbus-server.cpp)[ 275] main: Discovering devices...
1609608808540612: Fatal (devicemanager.cpp)[ 187] initialize: No firewire adapters (ports) found.
1609608808540617: Error (ffado-dbus-server.cpp)[ 282] main: Could not initialize device manager
1609608808540621: Debug (ffado-dbus-server.cpp)[ 207] exitfunction: Debug output flushed...
Upd.: I have solved the problem! FireWire adapter wasn't authorized.
Thank you very much!
