How to get VSTs working in Waveform
Hi,
I am trying to get some VSTs to work in Waveform. I am using Linux Mint, Cinnamon. I can't locate a VST folder. It is not in the places specified in the instructions I got from Tracktion. I can't seem to create the folder. Any advice appreciated
Best Wishes
Matt

You can create a folder in your home directory called .vst
This is a hidden folder so you might not see it in your file manager although there should be an option to show them (you will have to look up how to do this as I'm not familiar with Cinnamon).
If you open a terminal you can type:
This will create the folder. Put your vsts in there.

Code: Select all
mkdir ~/.vst

Re: How to get VSTs working in Waveform
Sorry to bother you again. I now have the Collective 'Player' working in Waveform. But it can't find the 'content'. I put the vst folder into the same folder but no instruments. Any advice?

I'm not sure, is there any documentation that comes with it?

Yes, it says:
Please follow these instructions to install the Collective content
1. Create or go into the directory "~/Tracktion/"
2. Copy or move the "Collective" directory into "~/Tracktion/"
3. Restart your host and open a new instance of Collective
4. Verify that the preset browser on the left contains entries named similarly to the ".collinst" files inside the Instruments folder. Some names may differ.
I did all this but the players keeps saying that there is missing content
Bummer!
Any advice appreciated
Thanks
Matt

Re: How to get VSTs working in Waveform
So just to be clear, the vst is in ~/.vst and the content is in ~/Tracktion ?
I don't know how the content folder should be structured but make sure there isn't an additional folder, like ~/Tracktion/Content/Content, maybe something went wrong with the extraction?
Other than that I can't really help much, might be best to post on their support forum on kvr or email them, they should provide support for something you have paid for.

Re: How to get VSTs working in Waveform
Well I tried the content in a separate folder and that didn't work so I then put it all into the vst folder and deleted the other folder and that doesn't work. I wrote to Tracktion support but they haven't replied. I guess I will get on to them again. Anyway, I appreciate you trying to help me.
