[Solved]Problem with 64 bit Window's VST's

Post by Largos »

I am having a problem getting 64 bits Windows vst's working. I have tried using Carla's bridge, I am using the 2.4.3 from kxstudio repositories as 2.4.2 from Ubuntu repos has some bug where you can't use the discover plugin function. I can see the plugins being found in the progress bar but they don't appear in the plugin list after. For 32 bit plugins this is fine.

I have also tried using yabridgectl. This converts all the plugins into .so but again, only the 32 bit plugins show in Carla, MusE and Reaper. Reaper shows the 64 bit plugins in a list of failed to import.

I am using Kubuntu 22.04 with the Ubuntu Studio addon.

carla/now 5:2.4.3-1kxstudio1 amd64 [installed,local]
carla-bridge-win32/now 5:2.4.3+git20220415 i386 [installed,local]
carla-bridge-win64/now 5:2.4.3+git20220415 amd64 [installed,local]
carla-data/now 5:2.4.3-1kxstudio1 all [installed,local]
wine-staging/jammy,now 7.7~jammy-1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
wine-staging-amd64/jammy,now 7.7~jammy-1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
wine-staging-i386/jammy,now 7.7~jammy-1 i386 [installed,automatic]
winehq-staging/jammy,now 7.7~jammy-1 amd64 [installed]

I am guessing the problem is less likely to be with Carla and more with Wine. I have wine staging installed from their website. Ubuntu comes with version 6.0.3 but it wasn't working with that either.

Hope someone can help with this.

I solved it by installing PlayOnLinux and creating a new prefix using wine version 6.17. I then moved the vstplugins into the new prefix's folders in and rescanned them with carla and that worked.
