Windows VST PlugIns for a use in GNU/Linux?

Post by TAERSH »

Hi.

After solving my approach of using Windows VST PlugIns in my OS, I'm looking for some additional, free and good Windows VST Plugins.
Is there something like a full list?
Anyone knows some great Synthesizer PlugIns known to work?

All information appreciated...

Thanks

Synth1 https://vst4free.com/plugin/245/

People have made lots of presets for this that you can download, just do a search.

MinimogueVA https://vst4free.com/plugin/405/

Both these work for me. The vst4free is a good site for free plugins.

Ok, thanks for the list.

Though I should have been more exact. When I'm saying PlugIns I mainly speak of Synthesizers/Instruments.

Sorry for not being exact enough.
The vst4free is a good site for free plugins.
Wow, that's a lot of instruments to find over there. Perhaps much too much of what I ever might use.
Already downloaded appr. 800MB of Synthesizers.

So, I might be offline for a few days, being busy with testings and composing new songs. :D

This is the first one: viewtopic.php?p=127583#p127583

Thanks!

Given the amount of Linux native good FOSS synths we have nowadays (Zyn, Surge, Odin2, etc.) there is little need to run a Windows one.

But just for experimentation sake this is my suggestion list:
  • Tranzistow (Donationware, min $50) Linux version available
  • Diodow - Linux version available
  • Synth1
  • VK-1 Viking Synthesizer
  • PG-8X
  • MauSynth
  • ExaktLite
  • Cobalt

in mix, nobody can hear your screen

Odin2 and Vital are both cross platform and are some of the best around at the moment. Vital in particular is causing quite a stir amongst the Serum users.

About halfway down the page, Peter H. offers a Vital preset that has 12 drumkit sounds
in a single wavetable. Other presets have links in the postings. 2020 was good for
synth programmers and users. Surge is also making good progress, the K1 clone from Nils
is fine, and even Whysynth showed up in a recent synaptic, I need to try that one.
Cheers

There is a 'discord' group with a lot of Vital preset sharing.

Good that the VST issue got solved.

I like beside Guitarix the Ignite Labs Emissary Amp sim. It's modelled after a Randall Satan and is best suited for harsher tones.
The site wants the user to register in order to get access to the software. Just mentioning, because not everyone is down with that.

Another one is SQ8L, a Ensoniq SQ80 synth plugin. Has some intersting sounds. The game musician Chris Huelsbeck used it for
some of his work.

A few quirky ones are Alieno (synth) and the HG Fortune plugins (synth/fx).

Meanwhile I have downloaded 180+ Windows VST plugins.
Some didn't fit my needs or causing trouble, so I removed some again.
By now I have 150 active and useful.
Alieno is one of them and I like it.
Now I have lots of great sounds in addition to the great GNU/Linux plugins/sounds to use.
Already composed 6 different songs with Windows VST plugins in use.
