linux midi through wine

Hi.

I am running a midi composition program through wine. I load timidity first then the window program. Problem is that all that plays back is drums. no other instruments. I am using a Creative X-Fi Titanium sound card. I am also very new and quite confused by the overwhelming number of midi-related software (Jack, ASLA, Timidity etc...)
