Nice options, @oscillator!
I like Audio Muse cause in common parlance it can be reduced to aMuse that was said earlier.
Museic sounds interesting and LinMuse can be shortened to LiMuse OR oh no! LM? :D

MuseDAW is too beadledom as for me.

I also like MyMuse. Probably most of all options. Sounds like something personal and homey, the way I perceive it.

As another option, I suggest - Museum (MuseUM?). And the harp as one of its exhibits! :)

As for the options proposed by the respected @oldcastle, I liked the first one. He's already done a new ready-made square logo which may be important if a decision to move away from the original idea is made considering mention at the GitHub considering what was mention at the GitHub.

So, what I am thinking of is more like (brainstorming)

FreeMuse

LibreMuse

OpenMuse

AudioMuse

SoundMuse

Museic

MuseDAW

MyMuse

LinMuse

Some prefix (or suffix) that keeps Muse.

I see that you like muse. I know, it's hard to let it go :lol:

As mentioned at the GitHub issue, there are so many "muse" out there. The band, the music collaboration, the musescore and Mulab (not muse, but a muuuu) :D

BUT, we can try something, right?

Great work, @oldcastle! Especially the last one harp. It could fit my Museum idea. :)

Oh, how I missed such a pro when I was working on my new logo! :D

Great stuff! @oldcastle, can you re-do that last one with the harp into "freemuse"? I think it would go well with our one-liner.

While I appreciate the work here, I am still very concerned about loss of identity and falling off the 'map'.
How will people who have only known it as MusE find it. Not everybody looks in places like here.

P.S.
Being a old curmudgeon I will ensure my install maintains the original :mrgreen:

@oldcastle

I like Musebase, but I think Steinberg might complain.

Thanks @folderol, that question is what we are investigating here.

On one hand we feel that not enough people appreciate and use MusE and we feel that a reboot (in more ways than a name change) might solve this, on the other, maybe MusE is a title that has enough in itself.

I don't know the answer to this question. What I think is a valid concern is that "muse" is already used in other projects.

I think the solution to this could lie in keeping "muse" as a part of the new name. :)

I totally agree with you. Besides as a result, we can get another new program and another fork of the old one for those who don't agree with such a re-branding or simply don't know anything about it, as it has already happened many times before with the other soft.

My graphic artist capabilities attain a negative value, but how about splitting it up into three words one above the other, such as.

libre {all lower case and middle size}
MusE {big and bold}
Synthesis {fairly small - possibly in italics}

It retains the original name, but makes it more distinctive.

If you're trying to distance yourself from muse group, what is the point of keeping muse in the title? Might as well keep as it is.

I agree with this. If you want Muse then keep the current name.
