For good measure here's a last pre-rerelease (if all goes well) before we call it a day and push the big 4.0 button!

Unordered list of some of the improvements:
- Fix: Script popup couldn't be cancelled.
- Rework: LastEditedEvent add to menu in pianoroll + shortcut.
- New: Menu option for Save As Template

- Fix #836: Don't play existing midi events in replace mode.
- Fix #959: Trim event length function in pianoroll not working.
- Fix #960: Wrong zoom level after track type change MIDI->Drum.
- Fix: Memory corruption causing crashes by topwin toolbars.
- Fix:Dark Flat theme: Improve visibility of checkboxes.

Hmmm...one thing, but my memory might be misleading.

When working with the Surge softsynth, I can set zoom lever (a Surge setting). This was remembered, so the next time I opened the native GUI, the zoom level was the previous one. This doesn't work anymore -- Surge is always at 100% (so I have to change it again). Is this a regression?

I saw some mention of Surge and HiDPI in the changelog...I am running Surge 1.7 on MusE4pre3.

It might be that I previously used the Surge setting "Set default zoom level...".

Yes, I could reproduce it, will look into it.
It's always like that with plugins, you fix one thing for some plugins, and it breaks others... :(

The behaviour is the same in QTractor and Ardour (for the lv2 version, VST3 works as expected), so it doesn't seem to be a MusE issue.
I understand that there is no official 1.7 lv2 version from Surge, currently they only support VST3 for Linux:

That is interesting!

And I can confirm that the VST Surge plugin does remember zoom settings.

Hi, my name is Pita Araujo and I'm an arranger/composer/producer in Brazil professionally since 1984. I'm proudly doing the jump from MacOS to Arch Linux(Manjaro).
I used basically Logic as my main tool (since Atari Sts and TTs) and have been a certified Logic Pro trainer fro 2005 up to 2017 here in Sao Paulo/Brazil.
I'm on MuSE nowVersion 4 pre is installed and stable (via App Image) in Manjaro.

Soon MacOS will be just a partition in a drive for opening old Logic projects.
Don't get me wrong. I still love many things about Logic, but it has to do with stuff that is not there anymore:
1- The spirit of Dr. Gherard Lenning and the Emagic/C-Labs team.
2- The sheer power of Logic, its unparalleled features, vast tool chest and its good humored manual that came with a DON'T PANIC on the front page.
3- The vibrant and enthusiastic community.
4- The "no one left behind" mindset.
Did some research, chose the distro, installed Manjaro in a partition of a broken laptop with a ruined screen (an Acer Aspire 5750Z)
Then I stumbled upon this awesome piece of code, and now I just set myself FREE.
New workflow, new possibilities, new canvas and paints.
A fresh new start.
Taking the most from the humblest machine, and now custom building a machine to soar the soundwaves.
61 years old and feeling like a satisfied kid with his shinny new toy.
My most enthusiastic Thank You to the MuSe development team and community.
I'm completely loving this moment in my life.

Hi Oscillator! First of all. loved your work and the demos.
I'm super busy now, 'cause I'm a TOTAL newbie in Linux. Lots of stuff to learn. Been using MacOS exclusively since 1995.
Well, my dear,
i have tons of questions.
Fist two:
1 - When MuSE is started for the first time, it warns me about my system clock being set at 300hz and that it shoul be 500hz. What does that mean and how to adjust it?
2 -Notes and events on the start of a looped range do not sound. I've seen in the videos in youtube it does not happen, noe mentione in the forums etc. It must be a problem of my system.
Can you please help me with those fore a start?
Thank you sooo much for the warm wellcome.

Sorry, I haven't seen that one. How do you start Jack? With QJackCtrl?

Could it be that your Left Marker is not exactly at zero, especially the last three digits? Make sure Snap is set to "Bar" before setting the Left Marker! Does this help?

Problem solved as to the loop issue.
The markers were ok.It was the playhead.
It has to be in the exact 000 ticks at the loop start, then everything will play allright.
Thanks so much.

Glad you got it working!

As for the system clock issue, maybe @Tim E. Real, @spamatica or @kybos can help you?

The updated website/screenshots look good! I was able to install muse using apt-get install on my Pi but it is the 3.x release. Do you have suggestions on how/if I can install the preview release on my Pi 4 (ARM Processor)? Thanks!
