I suppose you would have to compile it from source. Instructions are in the README file.
MusE 4.0pre3 released

Re: MusE 4.0pre3 released
I was always wondering myself about those messages. The timers never seem to get the frequency they request.oscillator wrote: ↑Sun Mar 14, 2021 8:57 am As for the system clock issue, maybe @Tim E. Real, @spamatica or @kybos can help you?
And there is always the "fatal error":
fatal error: open /dev/rtc failed: Permission denied
I don't know the background, probably Tim knows more about it.

Perfect! (I am new to make/compile but...) The instructions made sense and Muse 4 just launched on my Raspberry Pi 4!

Good job! What performance do you get? It is useable on the RPi4?

Re: MusE 4.0pre3 released
My Pi DAW usage is constrained to MIDI and virtual instruments so far. My favorite virtual instrument I have installed on the PI is Helm. Helm works well as a standalone. As a virtual instrument in MusE 4.0pre3, I get occasional hangs and saturation of the CPU. https://tytel.org/helm/ If there is a particular kind of performance test that would be helpful - I'm willing to try it!oscillator wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 11:39 pmGood job! I'd love other recommendations for modern virtual instruments to try with MusE! I don't care about sound design - I just want a modern UI and ample presets to try for music projects. One thing I really like about MusE is the streaming piano roll as MIDI is being recorded. I love being able to scale that up to the full screen. Why? I am recording houseplant energy patterns converted to MIDI via a MIDI Sprout - this let's me see what's happening over long periods of time (e.g. 12 to 24 hour MIDI recordings). MusE seems perfect for this, letting me record, watch, and listen. The next thing I wish MusE had was the ability to insert MIDI filters like the X42 pack, so I could filter out CC's, adjust incoming MIDI to a particular scale, or modify the tempo of incoming notes to a set duration.

Have you tried the built-in plugins (menu Midi->Input Plugins)? And/or the post-editing functions (Functions and Functions->Scripts)?

I love the Surge softsynth -- loads of presets and different synthesize functions. Try it out if you haven't already!rtmusic wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 8:12 pm My Pi DAW usage is constrained to MIDI and virtual instruments so far. Sorry for the late reply.
Please see here for a remedy:

Simply put, please ensure the kernel module snd_hrtimer is loaded before starting MusE.

Just some further info. I have revived some information from the old FAQ and tried my best to update this subject with information from above.Tim E. Real wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 7:11 pmSorry for the late reply.

I am not entirely sure how to make this fix permanent under Manjaro but it should be possible to find out.

Re: MusE 4.0pre3 released
this became my DAW of choice after some research i did last weekend.
i started from MusE 0.6 long long time ago, and eventually returning to it.

Yes - Surge looks good - however there is not an ARM version available for my Pi 4. I don't know how to compile one for my Pi. The Muse make instructions were great. If someone could help me out with how to make an ARM version of Surge, I'd love to try it with MusE! *I need step by step!oscillator wrote: ↑Sun Mar 21, 2021 1:19 pmI love the Surge softsynth -- loads of presets and different synthesize functions. Re: MusE 4.0pre3 released
It looks like there is an arm version available on kxstudio: https://kx.studio/Repositories:Plugins (scroll down to Surge). You have to install the "data" first, then the "armhf".rtmusic wrote: ↑Mon Mar 29, 2021 10:56 pm Yes - Surge looks good - however there is not an ARM version available for my Pi 4. Re: MusE 4.0pre3 released
WOW - There were instructions on KXSTUDIO's site to help me install the repository. The KXStudio site is a great index of open source music tools. This just opened me up to so many more applications and plugins to try on my Pi 4, installed with ease via Synaptic Package Manager. I can't wait to try Surge, Vitalium, and others. Thank you so much! *And of course, I'll try these in MusE too!oscillator wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 6:22 amIt looks like there is an arm version available on kxstudio: https://kx.studio/Repositories:Plugins (scroll down to Surge). Sorry, long lines, takes a bit of time for my replies to get through.chaocrator wrote: ↑Tue Mar 23, 2021 12:40 pm this became my DAW of choice after some research i did last weekend.

That's nice to hear, MusE 0.6 was a while ago If you didn't already, checkout the post I made about MusE 0.0.1!
We've come a long way since then and I hope we will grow a lot further, even though MusE is very usable in it's current form (imo)
