Patch changes in piano roll?

Would it possible to integrate the "List editor" patch list control into the piano roll patch change?

As of now, it seems I need to flip back and forth between the List Editor patch change (to set patch name) and the piano roll to set the time at which the patch change happens.

On a related note, I don't quite understand how the patch 3 patch change dialog boxes in the "Program" box of the piano roll works.

How to program timed controller changes, such as 'patch' (or 'program') controllers:

- As you have found, this can be done in a traditional way in the List Editor
by clicking the 'Ctrl' button (tool-tip says "Insert Ctrl") which opens a dialog
where the type of controller (such as patch), its value, and its prescribed time can be entered.

- This can also be done on any mixer strip, found in the Arranger, Drum and Midi tracks, and the Mixer.
Use a recent MusE version, where these mixer strips were recently added to the Drum Editor and Wave Editor.

1) Move MusE's red play head cursor to the desired position at which to insert the desired controller change.
2) On the mixer strip, click the 'Patch Name' box and select a patch, OR dial-in or enter a desired patch number with the
three blue LED segmented Bank High/Low + Program readouts.
3) Now right-click the mixer strip's 'Patch Name' box OR the blue Bank High/Low + Program readouts,
which pops up a short automation menu, and click 'Add Event'.

Done. A new automated event has been programmed. The List Editor will confirm that such an event has been entered.
The automation event can also be erased later with the 'Erase Event' menu entry (below 'Add Event') -
provided the red play head cursor is already on the exact time location where that event is stored.

Other types of controllers can be automated this way as well, such as pan, volume, or any midi controller.

Oh wow, that's really intuitive and I like the way it visually appears as a line in the midi track on the arranger window. Thanks for the information, Tim!

The small lines in the arranger midi tracks are convenient visuals and can show notes and controllers and more.
In the 'Appearance Settings' arranger tab you can control what is shown.
'Show cakewalk style' usually is the most pleasing.

(Many of the displayed small fine lines, and some other stuff, were not showing before due to drawing bugs.
But this was fixed several months ago with massive drawing fixes.)
