Debian 11 Testing and MusE from the repo ends in a crash

Post by oscillator »

So, I upgraded my SSD and did a fresh install of Debian 11 Testing.

Found MusE 4.1 in the Debian Testing repo, great!

It launches, but as soon as I select "Open" it crashes with the error message:

Code: Select all

(muse:18787): GLib-ERROR **: 13:47:19.927: creating thread '[pango] FcFontSetSort': Error creating thread: Resource temporarily unavailable
Trace/breakpoint trap
and somtimes (!):

Code: Select all

(muse:19250): GLib-ERROR **: 13:58:24.928: creating thread 'dconf worker': Error creating thread: Resource temporarily unavailable
Trace/breakpoint trap
I will try to compile the latest MusE and see if it works better.

I have already installed all the MusE Debian dependencies.

I'm on Debian sid (it should be the same package version 4.1.0-1), I don't have this problem.

I had Jack started via qjackctl, but with only default parameters.

When I set all the values for interface etc, start Jack, and start MusE it works.

I use Qjackctl too, that's a weird problem...

I agree... I will investigate further. I setup Jack for realtime too. Seems to work better now. When you have used and configured a system for a couple of years there is always stuff that you did that you don't remember :) I will document better.

And I got this 1TB EVO SSD from a friend as a gift, and I only had 128 GB before, so it is still worth it. I've been doing a lot of programming these last few months (DStudio), so it is time to make some music and I need the space.
