Soundjack is a realtime communication system providing any quality- and latency- relevant parameter to the user. Depending on the physical distance, network capacities, the actual network conditions and the actual routing even musical interaction or at least compromised musical interaction is possible. Soundjack uses Portaudio (http://www.portaudio.com) and Opus (https://opus-codec.org) and is a member of the fast research project (fast actuators, sensors and transceivers).

I still don't have the possibility of online jamming often, due to a shakey and metered mobile connection, but I wanted to share what worked for me, after trying a good number of ninjam (based) clients: I'm running Reaper for linux just to have access to the ReaNinjam plugin that is coming with it, it will scan (at least) for sessions and servers on ninjam.com and ninbot.com, and works. To wire Reaper into something else, or something else into Reaper, Carla in its different modalities is my ally. Not elegant to run an entire DAW just for one plugin, but surprisingly undramatic in terms of resource use.

jammr wasn't bad per se, though, I don't want to be locked to one platform, but it was light, robust, stable, easy to wire up, and good with my subprime internet
