Has anyone ever heard of a 6 channel sound card? I would like to do some recording in surround sound, mainly to "import" my SACD collection by playing them in my 6ch Sony SACD player, and recording them in the highest quality I can, preferably 24b 96khz at the minimum.
Any ideas how I can go about doing this?
Thanks in advance

Re: 6 channel sound card?
That's 6 mono channels? The M-Audio Delta 66 has 6 mono inputs (judging from the pictures I guess that's the 2 'tulips' on the card and 4 jacks on the breakout box).zryder wrote:Has anyone ever heard of a 6 channel sound card?

well 6 mono channels might do, but more along the lines of 5.1ch analog in..
Re: 6 channel sound card?
I would also go for mono channels and go to 5.1 inside the pc. Doesn't Ardour let you define multichannel busses? I seem to remember there were multichannel pots. Maybe someone else can give you more info on that.

If you have some skills with electronics (or know someone who does), you can also buy three cheap Behringer USB interfaces with 2 RCA inputs each and use them together to record 6 channels (or 5.1 if you will)

You really only need 3 stereo channels. And then to pan the inputs to left and right while recording two tracks per channel, that's l and r. Wicked.
