I want to get rid of my noisy power-supply
It's the only fan I have (CPU got passive cooler, GPU too)
I guess, as the power-supply fan takes out the whole air, there is no passive solution!?
How to make the power-supply quiet? What are the most silent power-supplies?
SilverStone Nightjar series ST30NF is the only fanless PSU I have found, unfortunately it's a bit out of my price-range :(

Maybe it's time to look at some water-cooling?

the last hours I made some research at this very good page (only looked for the ones available here):
http://www.silentpcreview.com
turns out that I will probably take one of the Corsair vx or hx series or the seasonic S12 series. at the moment my favourite is the VX450: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article751-page5.html

earthwatts you mean Antec? it's quite noisy from 200Watts:

fanless PSU doesn't make sense as they require a seperate fansystem for the case (they don't pull out the heat) or a whole watercooling system. Watercooling surely is the best solution, but very expensive.

I will go with the Antec Neo Eco wich is similar to the Seasonic S12II, but 25% cheaper: http://www.silentpcreview.com/article753-page1.html

And I searched for e new (silent) case, too. Will be the Coolermaster Sileo 510, wich is desinged to absorb the noise (with quiet fans, too): http://www.silentpcreview.com/coolermaster_sileo500

Than the most noisey part will probably be my HDs wich transfer vibrations to the case. Will suspend them from the case with ss like this (or even just put them on the bottom of the Sileo case wich has a acouctic-foam): http://www.silentpcreview.com/article8-page2.html

Will post again, when done

about watercooling, not a good idea after all:
http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/vi ... 85#p533028

other solution (old known "box in box" principe):

heat could be a problem though, also the fans in the rear will produce noise again

I use the deluxe solution: a separate machine room

Hear the man. I have Earthwatts PSUs installed on both of my desktop machines. Both machines also have Antec Sonata II cases, fanless graphics cards (Gigabyte, IIRC), and those big-ass Zalman CPU fans (with speed control). The boxes aren't completely silent but they are satisfyingly quiet. :)

Best,
