what price range ?
I got myself a Fender Jazz bass (made in US) for 500 euros (not a second hand, limited discount) about a year ago at musik-service.de (excellent place, quick feedback, etc). They have inexpensive basses as well :

Get an Ibanez fretless then. I've seen them new for $250.00 USD. Unless you just want jazz in the name. Then get a Fender jazz. Wicked. But you can play jazz on any bass. Infact, the things that effect the sound most on an electric isn't the name, but the pickups, strings, fret and fingerboard, preamps, amps and style of the person who is playing them.studio32 wrote:Ibanez sounds in the direction of metal in my ears... Do you mean a clone of a Fender Jazz (which is really more suited for rock or funk) or something with clean warm tones?studio32 wrote:Ibanez sounds in the direction of metal in my ears... I want a jazz sound...
If the latter: just about any fretless with flatwound strings should give you the proper tones.
i would suggest this site
btw, i have one yamaha bb415, is my first bass, and i love it
and, of course, tone (jazz, blues, funk, rock...) is (especially) in your fingers

I think the simplest way to change your bass tone is to play with your fingers. And roll the tone control a little for a little warmth.

The headroom is there to handle transients - not the "weight" of the entire signal.

I think it would be better for you to buy a busted fender and fix it than to invest in a cort. But that is only my opinion.studio32 wrote:And what do you think of an Cort GB34A?
