Sound Card EMU 0404 PCI

Hi!
I have the following problem:
I use a sound card EMU 0404 PCI to make music in Linux.
I had trouble setting audio card in Ardourfor voice recording, and I received the following advice: http://ardour.org/node/4061
I managed to solve the problem but, coincidentally, after a few hours, I had no sound in Linux, i have sound only in Windows.
I'm tried Mandriva Linux Spring 2010.1, Ubuntu 10.04, install,reinstall ,the same negative result."Can not start sound card".
I put the EMU firmware,nothing...
What can I do?

Hi,

You should give some info on your hardware-software configuration, I suggest the alsa-info script output which gives info about your cards, mixer settings, etc. You can use this single command:

wget http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh -O alsa-info.sh && bash alsa-info.sh

Upload to alsa-project and give here the URL. Also, give the output of:

cat ~/.jackdrc

and

ulimit -r- l

Anyway, do not try fixing too many things at once.

I have a system AMD Sempron 2400 1,9 Mz,4 GB Ramm,video card Nvidia FX 5200,sound card EMU 0404 PCI,tv tunner Kworld PCI. I have two OS,Windows XP Pro,SP3,and Mandriva Linux Spring 2010.1.
I work with Ardour,Hydrogen,LMMS,Rosegarden,Audacity,Zynaddsubfix.

There are no sound servers installed (not even jackd) and worse, lspci does not see your card
! Make sure the card is well inserted in the PCI slot.

Hello!
On a system with AMD Sempron Mz 2400,1,75, I have Windows XP Pro SP3 and Linux Mandriva Spring 2010.1, 2010.2 now, with the same problem:
EMU 0404 PCI sound card (ie internal) is seen, I installed firmware emu ... and nothing.
In "Sound Preferences" - "Hardware", I do not see anything at Input, nothing at Outpout, "Dummy Outpout!?
What can I do, I installed, reinstalled, about 4 times, same result.
In Windows, the card works, so it is faulty or poorly installed ...
Any ideas?

Your E-mu 0404 card is simply not recognized by your OS. To rule out that it could be your OS itself that is at fault you could try booting with a live CD from another distro like Ubuntu or Fedora and check if your soundcard is recognized then.

I can't see why but I would try installing Ubuntustudio, KXstudio, or AVLinux.

PD: Rather than installing, first use them in live mode, as Autostatic suggested previously
