Which mixers with 2 - 4 channels do you recommend?

I know Mackie is a good brand, but expensive, are there other brands which are good?

- what about Behringer, soundcraft, tapco, phonic, LEM, Yamaha, ... , ?

edit: and do you need digital effect on it for recording voice or guitar?

I wouldn't say that you need digital effects on your board. Those built in effects are generally used for live sound and not recording in a studio. Vocal effects processors and instrument processors along with digital effects are used more in a studio setting for effects. I use a Beheringer and have been using their mixers since 02. They are a great brand. And I have never had an issue with them. I would recomend them to anyone.
