Is a midi interface required for the FCB1010 to function?

Post by Katakuri2004 »

Love the solo plugins but needed a footswitch for live playing control, so I bought the FCB1010. Although the FCB1010 only supports midi (5 pin) inputs, my audio interface (Scarlett 2i2) does not (no USB). Do I need a special MIDI interface device or can I just buy a 5 pin MIDI to USB adaptor and plug it into my PC USB port? If so, what is a practical inexpensive solution?

I have one of these, an E-mu 2x2 midi unit, and it should be fine for connecting with your FB1010, not knowing the extent the fb1010 itself
has linux support. I've read that Guitarix works with fb1010, the device might be quite OS agnostic.

You might consider a Fender Floor unit, it's a usb fender Mustang modeling amp in floor-pedal format.
Fender incompetence led them to vastly under-produce these, they sold out quick, and rare to find one.

I don't think there is difference in MIDI interface or MIDI to USB adaptor, both are same. I have some cheapo (few euros) usb-midi interface, and it has been working ok.

Pedal itself sends just midi, so no problems using it with linux if your midi adapter just works.
