[solved] M-Audio Keystation 49 MK3 Controls in Reaper

For some reason I can't get the transport buttons working in Reaper again.
I connected another midi device and that screwed things up in various ways.
I hate this shit, but have to deal with it for now.
From memory I set the Input of Mackie Control to Keystation49 MIDI 2 and output to none.
That is described in the manual for Live and Protools to work. Now I get an error message
that the Input can't be opened.
Tried every other Input and checked and unchecked the boxes below.

The transport buttons send a midi note so they output something without setting anything up.
For whatever reason that doesn't work anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated before I go
back to using a tape recorder and burn my computer.

EDIT: Select the first device as a input device, don't enable the second one
In OSC/Control surface select HUI (partial). It should work now

I don't think you need to set it up as MCU, you could set it up like this - http://harmonicbuzz.com/mapping-a-midi- ... t-controls. There is also ReaLearn, which is an enhanced and apparently quicker/easier easy to do stuff like this.

That said, I'm not sure why you are getting that message.

Thanks a ton! That works and is actually a way better method and works for other devices even non-midi ones as well.
Didn't occurred to me to do it like that.
Actually I found out why the Mackie Controls didn't work. The keyboard is installed as two devices MIDI 1 and 2.
MIDI 1 must only be the input device and MIDI 2 only the control device. That's why it played notes on the control buttons.
Maybe that's useful to someone.
But I am glad I found out about ReaLearn which seems really useful for all kinds of things.
