INTEL o AMD?
I am about to buy a new desktop computer to replace my old notebook. I want to use Ubuntu or Ubuntu Studio. I make recordings with Ardour. I would like to know what you think of this AMD chip or if the Intel I5 is better?

Both have backdoors and spyware so go with ARM or get an old CPU from before they started adding this stuff.

AMD. It's a no brainer - better performance for less money and with less vulnerabilities. I'm still on an i7 but itching to get a new AMD CPU. Hopefully it won't be too long now.
Have a look on phoronix.com for lots of Linux CPU round ups and comparison tests.

At this moment of x86 CPU evolution, AMD without any doubts.
Wider range of models and pretty cheaper prices for the same performance (respective to the competitor's solutions).
