Hi,
I'm looking for a good soundcard with UAC2 that is compatible with mainline Linux.
It must be possible to configure gain, hp-level, pad/phantom etc via "Feature Unit Audio Class Descriptor" (or proprietary as long as it's documented/open)
HW requirements:
- High-quality, 24-bit, 96-192khz (~ 200-500 EUR price-tag)
- 2ch line in
- 2ch line out
- Headphone out
Not mandatory:
- Mic input
- Minimal amount of knobs and buttons, preferably none (should be tamper-safe where it's installed)
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
ps.
I just got a MOTU Microbook iic but that didn't seem to work (even though it's said to be fully audio device class 2.0 compliant... it actually works with an iPad so something is done right, but not under linux).
USB Audio device Class 2.0 compatible soundcards?

You might get specific specification info from the Linux kernel makers themselves.
Just yesterday I downloaded the most recent kernel.
I didn't install it, but I was able to browse it's documentation and even the programming "code" files themselves.
There are some spots where it specifically mentions certain models of hardware in particular. Some of the technical workarounds for
certain gear got integrated directly into the Linux kernel, for example.
Because there's such a high level of technical intimacy there with the gear, you could probably get a top notch complete answer if you talk to them directly.

@Drumfix, thanks, but that driver is for the old version "ii" not "iic",
i.e. before motu claimed it becoming "class compliant" which it's not...
