The output of "sudo lsusb -v" is essential.The devices use the same VID/PID, but different configurations.
I also recommend to have the snd-usb-audio driver blacklisted for the test, so it can't interfere pre/post a test run.

Sorry, it was directed @supereb (who has a 828-PRE). @rofer: But you could try that (blacklisting) too. I also think that the interfaces 1 and 2 should be set to altsetting 0 first and thereafter to 1. Maybe this would reset the odd channel mapping in the device.

Thanks for creating the test file. Initially I forgot to switch form 48kHz to 96kHz. It would swap channels, but only for an instant before reverting back to the correct channels. After a couple of times it would begin to swap channels for longer periods of time. When set to 96kHz it would swap channels the same as before.Drumfix wrote:Ok, this is for the 828pre...

Ok. Modifying the original file, the channel swapping still occurred. One thing that I did notice in all of this testing is that when running the test file, the transition when channel swapping is very quick, as opposed to ALSA where it is gradual and sounds like a bitcrushing effect while the transition is being made.Drumfix wrote:@supereb: You could try to use vendor specific interfaces 4 + 5 instead of 1 + 2 and see what happens...
When using usb-828pre-avb2.c, I do not get playback on any channel.
Note: The compile line should be:
gcc -o usb-828pre-avb usb-828pre-avb2.c -lusb-1.0 -lpthread
to compile using the 2nd version (note the 2 added between ...avb AND .c )

Could you try with a sample rate of 192kHz (and change the related #define in the testprogram) ?
I could imagine that the device starts up at 192kHz with 24 i/o channels, but changes to 32 i/o channels when a lower samplerate is selected.
Also could you enable debugging again and show the output at 192kHz, 96kHz and 48 kHz?

I'm really only interested in the "transfer->iso_packet_desc[0].actual_length" value returned in the iso_in_callback.

There is an ALSA AVB ethernet kernel driver in the beaglebone linux source tree. I modified it slightly so it would compile on my AMD box.

Thanks for trying. Do you know if this will work with a non i210 nic? AVB would be even better if it could be made to work.
Also for some reason I'm having trouble directly accessing the Motu mixer through a direct wired connection to computer. Works fine with Motu to wifi router and computer to wifi.

That AVB driver is supposed to work with any NIC, as long as the NIC is used in a dedicated AVB network only.
Just make sure the interrupt thread (if using a RT kernel) of the NIC and the workqueue threads are running at a high priority.

I've downloaded this, typed "make" while in the avb directory, did not get any errors, but am unclear if there are some additional steps I need to do. I didn't see anything I could 'run'. Qjackctl does not show any avb devices. I've been through the documentation at https://github.com/induarun9086/avbtest/wiki, but the instructions leave out some details that an experienced linux user would likely already know, I've been playing with linux for less than a year.
