tascam us-1608 usb 2.0 versus us-2020 usb 3.0

Post by Arthurx »

Hi all here,

I am thinking of buying a new external audio interface, maybe from tascam. Ir read some reviews and one of them started that the usb 2 version could not handle all the data with low latency. When you record all channels. Personallyy i like more the one with more analog inputs.
But i was thinking usb might be quicker.

Does any one here have experience with these tascam interfaces?
Thanks in advance. :D

Arthurx:
I own a US2x2 and a US20x20. the US2x2 works great in Ubuntu 16.04 with KXStudio repositories. But the newer model US20x20 gives me trouble.
1. Cadence sees it as with the older model but can´t connect to JACK.
2. Installed the Windows software thru wine, but I must be doing something wrong or
3. Connecting a USB 3 device thru wine and wineasio it´s hard to do

So the US-16x8 model should theoretically work

hope this helps you

Hi Jack,

I bought the 16x08 yesterday and tested it got two days now. And it works perfectly out of the box. Just choose alsa in jack and it appears. I use non-mixer as real time effects and monitoring. So if i hear your story. I am quite a lucky guy. As far as i can hear it is a crystal clear sound.
Thanks for the warning.
