Interface audio usb - disconnecting

This is my first post on this forum,so welcome everyone and sorry for my english

I'm using Laptop Lenowo Z50-70 with Linux Mint 17.3 and i got Audio-USB interface - Behringer U-Phoria UMC202. I got problem. When i plug in Behringer, i can choose this sound card from sound settings menu, but after few second it disconnected. Somtimes it's still visable without sound, and sometimes disappears from settings (all the time the interface is powered from usb, lights are flashing etc.) The device is working on other machines even older then mine, so i think there is some problem between linux and my laptop.

You didn't provide any detail on what kind of sound setup you have, so assuming you're using standard Mint and Pulseaudio, try ensuring you're using the USB2 ports, not the USB3 port.
Don't use any USB hubs, plug it directly into a USB2 port on the computer.

Yes i plug it directly to computer via usb 2.0. The ports are ok for sure. Earlier i got windows on the same laptop and Behringer works well. But I love linux and it's only thing that i can't manage. I trying to find something in internet but there aren't many people who are musician, linux users and use the same staff as me. Thats why i join this forum.

Try using synaptic to install qjackctl and a2jmidid.

In qjackctl Settings panel, set Periods/Buffer to 3

Use the > and ^ widgets by qjackctl Input Device to check and select the device.
Log out/in and retry.

And post some hardware and software repository details.

Installing a2jmidid will do nothing to correct the issues you are having since the UMC202 has no MIDI capabilities. It may be an issue with Pulseaudio. Like glowrak guy instructed, focus on getting Qjackctl setup properly whereby your device is selected and Pulseaudio is disabled upon Jack startup, which I believe is done by inserting "pasuspender -- " in front of whatever is listed in the Server Path (usually "jackd").

Hmmm the problem is that when Behringer disconnected, it's not visable for jack too. On other computers with linux Behringer works well. Just plug and done. Only with mine it's not cooperate

Did you install QjackCtl? If so, open it and go to the settings and tell us what audio in/out options are available.

Ok another words.

in QjackCtl in/out my Behringer is visable -but as i said- after few seconds when my card disconnecting QjackCtl didn't see her. I think that problem is in system not in Jack setup

Can you make a try with another USB2 cable?
When the disconnection occurs, is there any error logged in qjackctl (check the messages pane).
The last lines of dmesg could also be useful, if it simply disconnects you should see it there...

I've found that a lot of USB audio problems are caused by cheap USB cables and flaky USB chipsets on some motherboards. Try a USB cable with a braided metal shield. If you have a desktop, you can add a USB card. They're pretty cheap.

BTW, computers have builtin USB hubs, typically for each pair of ports. "lsusb -t" will show you. Make sure your USB audio isn't sharing a hub with anything else, especially a wifi.

The cables are good. As i said i use the same on other computes and everything works fine.

Not 100% sure how to interpret the output of lsusb -t as I don't see where is your device, but try to plug it into this port:

It looks like the 2 others are either USB2 ("Driver=ehci*) or USB3 running at USB2 speed and quite busy with other devices (Driver=xhci_hcd/9p, 480M)

I can maybe tell more with the output of "lsub" and "cat /proc/interrupts" (before the device disconnects)

Do not know if my solution can help you, so here goes. My yamahaypg235 usb midi keyboard was disconnecting for weeks. In my case I use a firewire fca202 hooked up to a xenyx 1622xusb mixer. This setup works great for me.

Started out using cadence and catia. I could play it for awhile with some programs but then it would disconnect. Thought it was the cables and/or the ports. Changing cables and ports did not help. I then used qjackctl and that seemed to help somewhat. Disconnects took longer to happen, but still happened. During all of this time my cpu usage would go to 100% only when using my keyboard with these programs. Finally, I thought I would try patchage. Patchage is working beautifully. No disconnects ever. My cpu usage is low, too.

There probably is more to this than just patchage. Have been updating with the linuxmint 17.1 updater. I have always done that but the past four weeks were crazy with the updating, at least for sound and cpu usage. My jack setup was switching from jackd1 and jackd2 with certain updates. A kernel updated and my ethernet would not work. Had to work with grub and use a previous kernel. 3.13.0-32-lowlatency is working very well with everything on my system at this time. Then again another update muted alsamixer which I never had to touch. Again, I had to install jackd2, because jackd1 installed after that update.

Now, after booting up, I start cadence, next start alsa-loop-jack bridge, then start alsa midi if I am using my keyboard. I turn on my keyboard get it setup for pc at the keyboard. After all this, I bring up patchage and make the proper connections. Finally all is working like a charm.

Maybe none of this will help, however, hope you get it fixed soon.
