Line 6 POD HD Pro X

Post by CeeJayTheFirst »

Hello everyone.

I'm new to this forum so if I'm posting in the wrong place please redirect me to the proper one.

So I'm here to ask about the compatibility of the Line 6 POD HD Pro X with ubuntu 14.04 LTS:
1-Can I use this amp's digital interface to record on this OS?
2-Is the editor software of this Line 6 compatible with this distro?
3-If the editor or the audio interface or both are not compatible "out of the box", is there any way to make this setup work?

Thank you for your time and all the replies.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/line6linux/

Two years since an update. Perhaps worth a try building it.
I would be content to use/create a range of clean to crunch patches,
sent to linux apps from the line-out connection. Poor mans re-amping.
There are plugins galore, collections from guitarix, rakarrack, invada, calf, mda, TAL
with which to make new tones. Really some nice options.
I've read that the pod has great sound, but new patch creation
is not as easy as users would like. I find making guitar sounds
in linux to be simple and rewarding, just basic plugin routing,
patchbay connections, and the many many hours needed to sample what's available.

I use a Fender Mustang usb amp, which is in XT territory soundwise,
but a lot simpler to use. There is a debian app called 'plug' that allows full editing
of sound on Version One mustangs, grab a used Mustang I version 1 for $60 or so,
connects by usb or line-in without special needs, or regrets.
Cheers

I have gone through the links and I find no files and nothing to download.
However, wouldn't this work using WINE?

P.S. I've thought of something I happen to have discussed on another forum and I wonder if it is doable:
Can I connect the POD HD to an external audio interface like Scarllet 2i2 or 2i4 or even a PCI sound card that is compatible with ubuntu and record with something like Audacity or Ardour?

Any line output should work with any line input.
Your pod line-out/headphone-out can be recorded/effected/mastered with linux apps.
I like timemachine for simple high quality recordings.

When using audacity with jackd, it won't appear in a patchbay like qjackctl
until the play or record button is pressed, and will be labeled 'port audio'.

You can press pause, make connections, and press pause again,
to resume recording or playback. I sometimes use audacity to play
music at different speeds, effects added, and record the results with timemachine.

the line6 trail may be cold, but may exist in some kernels?
Studio 1337 has 'it' built in, but little info is reported by actual line6 linux users
users about what actual hardware can be productively used.

Also, if you mean digital, as in pod spdif to soundcard spdif,
there is an spdif l option under setup, guitar input 2.
