Hi all!
I am considering to buy a new laptop to use as a mobile workstation. For this reason I'd like to have it small and light. I was considering the Dell Inspiron 13 7000: http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-13-73 ... ?ref=PD_OC . I would like to use it primary for run desktop-scientific software, but would be cool to have it able to do some music too.
Some of you have tried this machine? Or maybe some of you can point me to a nice low-weight portable laptop that runs smoothly with Linux (no dual boot needed)?

Re: Dell Inspiron 13 7000
I have the Dell Inspiron 1545, don't know how similar it is to the one you're looking at. I've been really happy with mine, bought it refurbished and it's lasted about 4 years and still going strong. I've not had any problems at all with linux although the wireless card can be a bit problematic to get working with some distros (requires the b43-firmware) but it's fine when you know what you need.
Music making has been fine on it too, can't complain really.

Thank you for your reply! I am thinking that probably Dell and Lenovo are the brands that support Linux better... for some reason. Here a couple of computers I am considering:
