[UNSOLVABLE] FocusRite Scarlett 8i6

Post by MrPrunen »

Hello to all.
I bought a Focusrite Scarlett 8i6.
Specific that I bought after a 2I2 that worked immediately and I was informed by reading that would work as usb-audio even not marked in alsa.
I bought this card because he had a spdif input I wanted to use a mixer with yamaha 01v
PANIC ... does not work ...
I started looking around, it seems there is a patch to install to disable the mixer. I saw someone on the forum of ubuntu among you we already had slammed the nose ..
Who gives me a hand to understand what the heck does that mean? http://focusritedevelopmentteam.wordpre ... -products/
I do not know where and what to touch. I do not mind the system directories, and proc pid and company Trump on linux. So I can not figure out which files touch.

I was thinking of using WineASIO in extremis, but we also do not know if it is a good idea.
I'm in the ball and missing a few days to the official launch of http://www.radioabawalla.net (March 2).
I'd like to live with a card a little more decent than the ozone that sometimes disconnects among other things ...

HEEEEELP ...
and sorry for my english!

Hi. Let's collect some infos, repost the output of this commands:

Code: Select all

aplay -l

Code: Select all

cat /proc/asound/cards

Code: Select all

cat /proc/asound/devices

Code: Select all

lsusb
Not sure to have properly understood your problem: is the whole device that doesn't work or just the digital input?

ok, i've got sound from channel 1 and 2.
i've get git clone -b s18i6 git://github.com/x42/alsa-driver.git .
After that i have modify scarlettmixer.c whit substition 18i6 with 8i6.
Then i modify the quirks-table.h changed the name 18i6 with 8i6 and address whit 8002
I Don't have output and the input 1-2 was mapped 7-8.
I'm on the right way but how it's possible activate mixer.
I try the card whit windows and map and save the mixer.
Know anybody that help my? :-)

So, you are trying to recompile the latest alsa driver in order to make the device configurable with a mixer interface using 18i6 Mixer Interface's code as a base, don't you? If so, I'm not sure that the changes you have done will be enought, but I don't know what to suggest to you... Out of curiosity, after this changes, what do you see into alsamixer?

Code: Select all

alsamixer
(select the device with F6 key, navigate and adjust with arrows). It looks like you have chosen to purchase a interface that is not fully supported at moment... I see that is recognized by the system but, if I understand it, you need a tool like the native Scarlett MixControl to use the device as you want.
I try the card whit windows and map and save the mixer.
What does it mean? Have you tried it or you planned to try it? Could be a good idea!

alsa mixer is blank.

Someone can suggest a card that has at least 2 mic inputs and one rca spdif input? I need to capture the digital output of a digital mixer yamaha 01v that I have. it's perfect for my web radio work (EQ, dynamics)

Or someone addresses me about someone I auiti to write driver focusrite scarlett 8i6 for? i'm a developer but don't have experience with alsa, jack and usb ?

PLEASE HEEEEELLPPP ME

Ok. I have to assume that this card only works in windows and mac and there is no system administrator who is willing to help me.
I'll change the subject of 3d unsolvable

yeah.. the technical information in only known to the vendor and that could be the reason for no support. any way 13.04 started supporting the stereo output (atleast).. so you may need to pre-load the mixer setting and then start using it. may in near future somebody would support this...

does that mean you are able to use 8i6 and its internal mixer?

after the last post i never tried on any Linux/jack releases.
i would love to test and see how this works in Linux.

may be i should just plug it in to the latest Ubuntu Studio and see how is it!
