Ugritone has linux-native drum plugin!

Post by tavasti »

My favourite drum plugin provider Ugritone has silently started providing also linux version of their drum plugin. Impossible to say what plugins are available for linux, but I'll ask them and tell you when I find out. Earlier I have used their drum plugins with wine. Everything has been working ok, and all their products are simple pay and download, no registration or failing DRM stuff.

I purchased Arena Rock Drums https://ugritone.com/collections/heavy- ... rock-drums and that same plugin also shows KVLT II drum presets I have. Plugin works at least for me ok (did not test it extensively yet).

They have now Black November, all drum plugins $20. KVLT in great package, althou they market it as metal drums, there is drum kits for softer stuff also, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTgabpJs7YM

Now they are running 5 year birthday sale, https://ugritone.com/pages/ugritone-bday-sale

From there, KVLT Drums is old product, so most likely not linux native, but Riot Drums 2 is new, and likely works with linux-native plugin. Despite cheap price ($5 minus 15% what you get when hanging there for few minutes) I haven't gotten that, because I don't think I need more punk drums :-)

When you select what ever drum plugin, they are self contained. So you don't need to select any 'base pack', what ever you select from their 'drum plugins' it works. Some of the older products are win/mac only, but I have been using also their windows plugins with wine, and no problems.

And in addition, they are nice, no bullshit people. They have also 'money back' promise, and one of friend tested, it works.

I thought for $10 I'd give this a shot. As tavasti mentioned above if you're on the site for a few minutes a pop-up appears offering a 15% discount, so actually this plug-in was only $8.50.

I'm on Arch and it didn't work on my first try. I needed to install the package libcurl-gnutls and then it worked. Everything appears to be working. Kind of surprising that there's a Linux version, and that no mention is made of Linux on the website.

And actually, on some cases it might be possible to get even cheaper. At least on some product I have gotten dialog 'name your own price'. Possibly by hanging on product page for a while. At that time I got it, for $30 product making offer $10, I got some other price they are willing to sell.

And yeah, it is interesting that they don't publicly tell that they are having linux-native plugin. Possibly it is because they fear ending up to situation that it does not work in some linux distro, and they would need to support it.
