Crumar Performer Free for Linux

Post by Kott »

Performer Free is a freeware edition of the Crumar Performer plugin released only for Linux users. It is a stripped-down version with every extra feature removed, leaving just the Performer as it is in real life. It's available in VST2, VST3 and StandAlone format as a precompiled binary for amd64 (Intel architecture) and armhf (Raspberry Pi4 and compatible boards). The UI dowsizes automatically if the screen resolution is lower than the normal plugin's UI size, in order to fit smaller displays that can be used with the Raspberry Pi. It's been tested and proved to work flawlessly under Ubuntu 20.04, Ubuntu 20.10, Raspberry Pi OS running on a Pi 4 with 4 GB RAM, and Raspberry Pi 3 B+.

Didn't seem to be working great for me (Reaper/Debian testing)... First there was no audio, then after fiddling around with controls for a while there was suddenly audio, but I honestly don't know what I did to make it happen. And when I did get audio, it sounded rather buzzy and harsh. Not sure if it was supposed to sound like that.

I can't see it appearing in DAWs or Carla on Ubuntu 18.10. It's been said to have been tested on 20.x though.

It's nice that we're getting all these new plugins by companies that haven't released Linux software before. For some reason, they all just seem to be unaware that those focusing on audio production on Linux aren't usually running the latest distro versions (for a whole bunch of reasons).
