Some interesting black friday deals

Post by kirjis »

These are interesting to me, there are a lot of other sales going on. Prices in euros, because that's what I use.

Pianoteq Standard bundle is now 199.20 € at https://www.modartt.com/buy
MDrummer 125 € at https://www.meldaproduction.com/instruments (some other Melda plugins in sale as well)

Mixbus 6 also on sale:
32c is 104 € at https://harrisonconsoles.com/mixbus32c-landing/
and basic version 21 € at https://harrisonconsoles.com/product/mixbus/

Bandcamp: https://kum1k4k1.bandcamp.com/ | Mastodon: @kirjis@polyglot.city
Reaper - Melda plugins - EndeavourOS | Clevo NH77DBQ 17" laptop - Presonus 2|6 - Focal Alpha 80 - Quad ERA-1

Ugritone has great offers https://ugritone.com/pages/black-friday-deals

Specially, KVLT Drums II. Great sounding drums, several presets, and not only for metal music but also for soft rock styles: https://ugritone.com/collections/kvlt-2-expansions

Ugritone products aren't linux-native, but I have many of them, and they all have worked ok in my ubuntu with wine-stable/wine-staging + linvst/carla.

I found that most of (if not all) Audio Damage plugins are ported to Linux and available at ~%50 off.

Librewave by David Healy also has large discounts. There are different virtual instruments available crossplatform (yes, also linux). I've bought the Kazbek Winds and had no problems with installing and running (on arch linux). Still have to figure out the knobs and tweak the sound.

https://librewave.com/

Besides, for non-linux software, Native Instruments offer Kontakt 6 for 50% off (but not Komplete).

All Melda plugins are at 50%.

Melda plugins here on Xubuntu 18.04 are working great in Bitwig except for:

1) Resizing. Once resized, the plugin has to be minimized and then brought back. A couple of mouse clicks that I do not mind at all, especially since I'm not spending time resizing them. In Mixbus32C this does not work. In Mixbus32C once resized, Mixbus32C has to be terminated and restarted. Because Mixbus32C does not send a 'resize request' once a plugin in minimized and brought back. In other words, Mixbus32C does not 'close' the GUI whereas Bitwig does. In Mixbus32C I use either presets or basic use that does not require resizing the plugin.

2) The recent MSuperLooper does not work well. Out of some 117 Melda plugins, it does not matter much to me.

I just bought that as well and after playing with it a bit I'm not massively impressed.

Rob Papen's Go2 synth is at 25€. Go2 works fine on Xubuntu 18.04 with wine and linvst. No problems at all. It's a 'digital' synth by its cold tones, so it complements well warmer synths, synths that have warm filters. There are other Rob Papen synths on sale too. As far as I'm concerned, Blue2, Predator2 and Blade2 are working well, with occasional X/Y jumps in Blue2.

Oh, I'm sorry you don't like it. I don't think it sounds the same as the samples from e.g. the kontakt factory library either, maybe because the samples are processed differently. It's just a small instrument plugin, and I think a 65% discount was an interesting offer. I didn't find many real-world instrument plugins that are linux-native, too, so I wanted to share this deal.

Oh yeah it was a good offer and I had never seen it before so I was pleased to come across it. I'm sure I will be able to make use of it. I think the harp instrument looks and sounds good, I'm still on the fence about buying it but it looks like it might be more useful.
