$39 Miroslav Philharmonic II CE

Post by glowrak guy »

https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/i ... ilharmonik

10 gig of sample content derived from the full version.
16 part multi-timbral for easy layering.
Some very nice pianos and acoustic guitars amongst the traditional orchestra instruments.

A modern distro, recent wine version, and linvst for linux daws will be desired
to run this. Should include a standalone version that would need wineasio
in it's device prefs

(falkTX now maintains both jackd and wineasio, so the unified thinking
should improve linux audio. The old saying of too many chefs in the kitchen
might apply to coding. A recent wineasio update that works well is a good sign!)
Cheers

Interesting deal, and good to have the money go to a company based in COVID-weary northern Italy.

@glowrak guy, do you happen to know if they use any sort of dongle-based copy protection?

Is there some list of instruments and articulations available? I have one commercial orchestral lib, but I don't have any solo strings other than sonatina/no budget/virtually playing.

Edit: found it https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/p ... nfo#sounds

Hi, no dongles, they use serial numbers and a software Authorization Manager. It works very well.
You make your account, with email and password. On the IK webpage, you would
click Support, and then User Area. Login, and in your user area, you'll find
products you purchased, their serial numbers, and download links to
whatever installers and soundsets etc are available.

When you run an installer, or launch an unauthorized product,
you'll be prompted to start the manager,
which will simply request the serial(s) you find in your user area products page.

Hi there,

IK has another sale for the Miroslav Orchestra (for 39$ (~46€ incl. taxes)).

Since I had problems: On startup, it complains that mkl_sequential.dll is missing. This is a flaw in the 2.0.6 installer (meaning that it also happens on a "real" windows). The workaround is to use the 2.0.5 installer (which installs intel mkl dlls) from the previous releases and then again the 2.0.6 installer.

I have tested it with Linvst in Carla. To have sound, load an instrument first.

(My lesson learned: do not (always) fiddle with dlls unless it is managable by winetricks. Contact customer support if the software was paid for. It is their job to give you the redistributables.)

I hope that helps. It'd cost me a day to find that out.
