Windows Freeware VST - Mike Senior's ongoing list

Post by jonetsu »

While being free, they're not Open Source and are linked to companies. Hence 'Marketplace'.

Mike Senior is a British mixing engineer known for his two books on recording and mixing, for his Sound On Sound articles and Mix Rescue series, and for the Cambridge MT web site where he has and continuously adds multi track projects by various artists (I have one of my piece there which subsequently got remixed several times, interesting) as well as all kind of information.

He also runs a 'Freeware of the Week' series on his Patreon page. This series seems to be available for everyone (no need to become a patron) and is available at:

https://www.patreon.com/CambridgeMT

His Cambridge MT web site is at:

http://www.cambridge-mt.com/ms/mtk/

All multitracks are free and there are a lot of projects available for download and mixing practice. Each project also has a discussion forum for remixers.

Cheers.

And if you have some time to shoot, Mike and Jon Whitten are having regular funny chats talking about things and nothing at Project Studio Tea Break:

So this isn't GNU/Linux or free software? This forum is weird

The marketplace is for things that cost money. Some are linux,
many are window plugins that will run with
wine and/or linvst, in various windows and linux daws,
and some are standalone windows/linux apps.
Doesn't bother me if a freeware list isn't technically
in the right column, music is still music...(smiley noted   )

Not to forget that freeware is not Open Source. And I think all of these shown in the list are linked to companies who are actually selling plugins. Mike Senior is dedicated to music production, with his books and web site, and the hundreds of free multi track project he offers for mixing practice. I trust that when he mentions a plugin, that plugin has good "value".

And Open Source is not necessarily free (as in freedom) software.
And I think all of these shown in the list are linked to companies who are actually selling plugins.
I have no problem paying for a copy of a piece of software, as long as it's free software.

Well, those plugins are freeware so in practical terms it means that one can get and use them w/o paying any money. Hence, the term 'free'.
