IK UNO 'DoubleUp promo, buy UNO, choose an IK software
https://www.ikmultimedia.com/news/?item_id=7446
Buy a UNO synth, and choose a software title,
Amplitube 4, or Sampletank 4 SE might be best choices
since they should work in a modern linux/wine setup,
and host a lot of the other titles.
I've found IK Multimedia's UNO synth to be a great addition
to my audio setup, it doubles as an arpeggiator, step sequencer,
and extra audio input, I have a splitter cable on it's input jack,
so my guitar amp and rompler's drum machine are ready
for action. The UNO can save 80 presets, has usb midi,
and cables to connect 5pin din midi plugs.
When powered by usb, it's noisy, but it's not noisy
when powered by a standard usb phone-charger,
or used with four AA batteries.
A ground-loop killer as used for car stereos with 1/8 inch audio
jack is recommended to end the noise,
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01M16 ... UTF8&psc=1
but some LED settings also eliminate about 80% of the usb noise,
so choosing an irrelevant setting is handy when you have the sound you want.
Youtube has many UNO, Amplitube 4, and SampleTank videos,
although SampleTank V4 was just released, so most videos will be for V3.
Cheers

Are you being paid for these irrelevant advertisements?

@glowrak guy:
I was considering getting one since I like the sound.
But does the editor software for the UNO work well on Linux with Wine?

I love my UNO analog hardware synth. It has great sound, and great functionalitysysrqer wrote:Are you being paid for these irrelevant advertisements?
that strongly enrich my linux based musician experience. Mentioning this in the
marketplace is the whole PURPOSE of having the marketplace.
Put your hand mirror down, and go find a record button somewhere

Part of my processing and sound arsenal is made of Sample Tank 3, Amplitube 4 and TRack-S and they all run fine using linvst. So software-wise there should not be a problem if the same software framework was used for the UNO editor. The data should be relayed by linvst but then, maybe there's some proprietary data formats that exceeds linvst capabilities ?tux99 wrote:But does the editor software for the UNO work well on Linux with Wine?

The standalone .exe works many, but not all times.tux99 wrote:@glowrak guy:

But does the editor software for the UNO work well on Linux with Wine?
But mine is still on the original firware, which has had a few interim updates,
supposedly requiring windows 8 or newer, so I'm lagging behind.
There are eight setup settings in the editor, so many combos are possible,
complicated more if you have an array of midi gear in use,
so when an immediate handshake does not occur, it's not always easily sorted.
But it doesn't always work straightaway in windows either, and it's a first release,
so I look for a better connection process in the next version. Using the plugin version
in Reaper brings in yet more settings options on the reaper side,
I should try it in Bitwig, come to think of it.
UNO shows up in qjackctl, but it's usb midi also connects internally to linux midi,
before choosing it's entry in qjackctl and I'm also using
the midi din ports, for yet more intrigue, and I've little time to mess with it
when it works. Great fun with rakarrack, guitarix, calf, surge etc.
And arping Yoshimi/Zynaddsubfx, and other linux standalone instruments
is great fun.
The main functions are easily used from the hardware itself.
Once you've made or settled on 70 or 80 user presets, if you can midi-learn
the editor controls, and use it with a more knobby midi controller,
(especially if very familiar with one) then it will be great in live use
as well as in the studio.
SampleTank 4 SE standalone is 16 part multitimbral, simple layering,
and with excellent sounds/effects, the standalone version
finds wineasio without a fuss, and the gui is working well. A great value
as a freebie with UNO
Gonna check more linux some things, and post back.
Cheers

Re: IK UNO 'DoubleUp promo, buy UNO, choose an IK software
Have you read his massive contribution to the Linux DAW forum/thread at KVR ? I'll wager that this guy has tested more varieties of Linux with more configuration details than anyone else I know of. He's devoted enormous amounts of time and energy to working with Wine-enabled Windows sound & music software, so if he posts something here it's because he knows it'll work with Linux and he probably knows just how well or badly it'll work. Since this is the Marketplace forum on LM, I'm pretty sure that his posts are not irrelevant unless we want to enforce a native-Linux-only posting policy (which I would object to).sysrqer wrote:Are you being paid for these irrelevant advertisements?
From my first days with Linux I've been using non-Linux music software with the system. I still do, and I'm pretty sure that other users here do likewise, so the glokster's information isn't just falling on the bare ground. For my part, I appreciate the man's efforts and contributions.
Best regards,

My Arturia Minilab midi keyboard, for instance, is. I can configure it just fine by running its Windows utility w/ Wine.sysrqer wrote:I thought usb devices are not recognised properly with wine?
