Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin
Great work, thank you, thank you, thank you!
As good as the DRSkit and Muljord3 are, their snares are too limited to be played with an e-kit: no rimshot and no tremolo.
The snare in this Tchackpoum is realy good, almost as a real snare.
Thanks!

I had a first test run with this kit too; quite impressive!
I'll hook up my electronic drumkit later this week and see how it reacts to that; especially the hi-hat.
Tnx!

Is this drum kit downloadable yet from the drum gizmo website? I wanted to try it when you guys first put it together but I ended up working with a real drummer.

"You guys"? You mean me?
It's only downloadable from that link, so far, that I know about anyway.
I may update it at some point. I was thinking of changing the order of MIDI notes for the open and closed hats (all open hat variants such as 1" open, 2" open, 3" open all grouped for instance), possibly making the default MIDImap loading change to the kits, and finally possibly editing the tom sounds a bit (destructively editing the proximity samples to sound a bit "snappier"). I was also considering editing one of the snare sounds since I only use one snare and don't really like the other. But I'm not in a position to be doing edits to the samples at the moment.

They all sound like nice updates! Especially the hihats ...JamesPeters wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 3:06 amI may update it at some point. @JamesPeters, this is a great kit. I've been using it for months. Per funkmuscle's comment, I think your work would be a great addition to the official kits at drumgizmo.org. Any reason it can't be listed there?

I'm glad you like it! Props to Vincent who recorded his drum kit for the samples!
I'd be happy to have it hosted on the DrumGizmo site. I've offered it already. I just assumed the DrumGizmo team was busy doing other things.

@JamesPeters Interesting. Well, as a happy user I hope others can come along and easily use both projects. That said, it's helpful to me that you make announcements and updates here. Would you consider making a page for your work? Possibly as a directory off the site you have listed in your profile?

Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin
Vincent Sermonne, who recorded the samples of his drumkit (which I used to make this DrumGizmo drumkit), will be hosting this DrumGizmo drumkit on his site soon. I'll update the first post in the thread when that happens.
On his site there are 2 more kits that I assembled from samples he recorded. They're simpler drumkits with fewer output channels. Here's the link to his site:
http://tchackpoum.fr/
Scroll down a bit and you'll find a link to those kits. They're the “Simone” and “Torchon” drumkits.
I should also mention: if the DrumGizmo folks would like to host these kits on the DrumGizmo site and/or make torrents of them, that would be perfectly fine. That would get the kits more attention than having them only at Vincent's site.

Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin
I was just giving this my first try, but noticed that hitting the open hihat and then hihat close does not mute the open hihat. (It continues to ring after hitting the close one.) Can anyone confirm this? I assume that the hihats have to be somehow grouped so that hitting it again mutes the previous hit.

FWIW, to solve the hihat problem by adding a group to hihats. See my hihat_kit.xml below:finotti wrote: ↑Tue Oct 12, 2021 11:48 am I was just giving this my first try, but noticed that hitting the open hihat and then hihat close does not mute the open hihat. Re: Free acoustic drum bank for DrumGizmo, 1.7 GB, round robin
That's not necessary if the directed chokes feature in DrumGizmo is working correctly (which officially in 0.9.19, it is not). The bug fix is in the development branch though. See the discussion here from when I reported this 10 months ago. If you build DrumGizmo from the development branch (as of January 08 2021), it works fine with directed chokes. No official release with a bugfix has been posted, so you have to build it yourself for this fix, or wait for the next official release.
So this isn't an issue with the kit. It worked correctly since 0.9.17, then there was a regression bug in DrumGizmo as of 0.9.19.
Making a group for all the hihats as you demonstrate has the unintended consequence of every hihat hit choking any other (including open hits choking each other), which isn't what I wanted (since it can sound a bit unnatural) and why I instead used directed chokes. I want open hats to ring out as intended (then control the number of "voices" if needed with the slider in DrumGizmo), but any closed hihat hit should choke any open hihat hit.
