Need an advice on home zone music system.

Postby artur.shaik » Mon Jan 09, 2017 6:14 pm

Hello.

Soon be ready our brand new little flat, so we (my wife and me) decided to create zoned music system with central control.

Some use cases:
    The same music in all rooms;
    Different music in bedroom and kitchen (for example);
    I'd like to listen Beethoven, while sitting in bedroom and WC :D .

So, may be somebody already have an expirience on multi output system.

I found this http://www.instructables.com/id/Multi-Mic-Speech-To-Text-with-Python/?ALLSTEPS. Seems can be adapted to my needs.
And I feel that pulseaudio can be finally usefull.

Of course I'd like to have low-cost opensource solution. Glad to here any advices.

Hi there! Never tried anything like that, but perhaps you can setup a (or more) multimedia servers with Raspberri Pi or similar hardware. There are Linux distros specialized for that like:

Thank you for reply.

This projects seems to be more like audio source aggregators. In the beginig it can be any old pc I think. I will keep it in a mind for the future. Thank you.

What I interested in for now is, that how to make an audio router for multiple outputs. Could those little usb sound cards be used or they are useless.

I think these ones are not too bad. I used them for a while.

Look nice, but little bit expensive for me. Order it from AliExpress, that is nearer to me, is cheaper though.
