fluajho 1.6.2

Post by Hutzpah »

Is there an easy way to install fluajh?
I just downloaded fluajho 1.6.2 (sf2 player) but not sure how its installed.
I am using Ubuntu Studio with reaper. And want to use my
middle eastern instruments in sf2. I was using Sforzando in mac previously.
An help much appreciated.

It seems that is not in Ubuntu Studio yet. I thought it was.

Did you try to compile it yourself? The howto is in the README:

To be honest compiling might be a bit beyond me.
I don’t really understand what to do. All very frustrating so close and yet so far.

Do you have some specific reason to use that plugin? I suppose there is some fluidsynth plugin installable in Ubuntu Studio.

Hi tavasti,
I was hoping to write some more Sephardic music in the score side of
reaper with the sf2 sound fonts I have. Sounds like ney, duduk, zither etc
which are a bit more inspiring.

I am now thinking maybe I will write in musescore export the file in xml or
pdf and record import the audio into reaper. The idea was to just use reaper.
Or maybe stay with cubase 5 for the folk music and move the other genres like
alternative rock,electronic music to reaper.
What do you think?

Kuando el rei Nimrod al kampo salia...

I think you have more options than you are aware of.
Fluajho (which I wrote) is just one of many ways to load .sf2 files.

If you use musescore I believe you can choose an sf2 file directly (google: https://musescore.org/en/node/21494 ).
Reaper should have its own plugin or way to load .sf2 files.

I found the following options (haven't tried any myself) of plugins loading sf2 files, which should be usable in Reaper.
Unfortunately they all need to be compiled.

Can't believe I didn't think of it first, but the most straight forward way to load sf2 files in Reaper at the moment would probably be with Carla. Add a carla-rack plugin on your track. Inside Carla, browse to your sf2 file and add it to the rack.

Another sf2/Fluidsynth plugin option is Calf Fluidsynth. Unfortunately, I can't get its GUI to work with Reaper at the moment.

This is exactly what I do, and is the only way I had success using sound fonts in Reaper.

Thanks for all the comments.
I didn’t know you could use Carla to play sf2. I will try that as I have used Carla a lot with Luppp.
I sent the day learning musescore 3.6.2. managed to load an xml score taken from cubase 5
and all looks good. The only problem was that there was a crazy amount of extra clefs, I think that happened because the midi was cut up in cubase.
Any way I am happy with the out come, I will write in musescore and record, import the stems into reaper.
Thanks Hutzpah
