Sample Browser or Manager
Greetings all,
Does anyone have a good recommendation for Sample Manager or Sample Browser.
I'm on Manjaro and I have yet to try Samplecat, but I was curious if there are other options for browsing and previewing samples libraries.
Specifically for one-shots (wav or aif).
Any recommendations would be most apprciated.

Re: Sample Browser or Manager
for distributed samples i wrote / use this:
https://github.com/coderofsalvation/usm
however, for simpler purposes I use wine with:
* samplecatalog.exe (old but fast)
* https://www.kvraudio.com/product/adsr-s ... er-by-adsr (new)
If you know any better GUI free sample-managers let me know.

I need this too. I really wish samplecat would work, but I have a hard time building it. I've only managed to build it on a specific commit, and there it was not working properly, not even showing up in jack.

I have also tried Samplecat, and all I remember it did not turn out as working. Was it failed build or failed to work, don't remember really.
Commercial Sononym seems to work, and it is great software, but I don't use samples that much that I would be willing to pay that amount of money.

If you just want to preview an unaltered sample, check the capabilities of your system's file manager. I have Dolphin and you can set that to auto preview a media file when you select it.

Re: Sample Browser or Manager
I second @Largos suggestion, I like using a file manager too.
However, if you want to try out, there is a new sample manager in development for Linux (it's still in alpha state): SampleHive

Screenshot suggests something sononym-kind functionality if I am not totally mistaken? (did not try it yet)LAM wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 4:17 pm However, if you want to try out, there is a new sample manager in development for Linux (it's still in alpha state): SampleHive

Re: Sample Browser or Manager
For now you can manually edit tags and categories but it has no auto-analysis feature.
