Sonatina is deprecated?

Post by Lyberta »

So I went to Sonatina website today and see a horrible MS Word created page that basically recommends other orchestras. Does this mean that it is deemed inferior to those ones?

There is no e-mail way to contact Matthias but I really wanted him to change the license from proprietary CC-Sampling-Plus to something free such as CC-BY or CC-BY-SA. I assume his website blocks contact attempts from Tor. Maybe someone can shoot him a message?

Mattias doesn't maintain SSO anymore. I think that he decided that the burden of hosting and supporting it wasn't worth it anymore given that other people have made more modern gratis orchestral sample collections.

Depending on what you are trying to do, you might be interested in the work of Peter Eastman, who decided to put together a successor to SSO. His github account has the original version that Mattias made, as well as SSO2.0: https://github.com/peastman/sso/releases

Here is a corresponding thread on a forum that Mattias hosts: http://scoringcentral.mattiaswestlund.n ... ht=sso+2.0
