NBO articulations

Post by j_e_f_f_g »

Here's a preliminary doc, and example midi files, explaining how to switch articulations for an NBO instrument using one sfz, and one midi channel. This is useful if you wish to play an instrument live. For example, perhaps you want to play the solo violin live using your midi keyboard or wind controller. And you want to switch between legato, pizzicato, tremulo, vibrato or no vibrato, fast or slow bowing on-the-fly with no delay.

This doc explains how, with example midi files that do it.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the explaining file.
I have yesterday tried to set it up.
Qmidirouter changes the signals, so that would be OK.
But Linux sampler crashed every time i loaded a new instrument.
So will try it again today.
Linux sampler seldomly crashes.

There's a bug in linuxsampler whereby it can crash when you use more than one midi controller to trigger a group. I haven't yet figured out what exactly triggers the bug, But trying to load Violin/SoloViolin/violin_full.sfz will lock up or crash every time. So that could be used to debug the problem.

I don't have the latest version, Mine also crashes when you define a group number twice:

Code: Select all

<group> group=1 group=1

Hi Jeff, are there any plans to dedicate a site to NBO? I can certainly donate for the domain name and/or hosting.

Hi Jeff,

I tried it just again.
It worked for a few minutes.
Switching between violin full pizzicato and legato.

Sounds really useful.

But OK Linux sampler crashes after little time. :?

What do you use for midi filtering?
The qmidiroute has a strange bug:
I convert key to controller 70 and it gives controller 106
So i need to input 34 and sometimes 35

Strange now i am writing this
Linux sampler starts to play the last notes with s delay of one or two minutes.

If you're offering to host, that would be great. I can do the web page design. You can email me through here to set things up.
