String font over all keys

I am looking for a sound font. That is a bit like the ones I use on my Ensoniq. So I use for example nu-strings, it sounds a bit like orchestra violins and cellos, but the essential part for me is, that I use it to play a live piano, so I want the sound to be continuous usable over the complete key range of the keyboard. Just like the piano font I use. (Salamander)
So maybe someone knows where i could find something like that. What I now do on the computer, is use Linux sampler with the piano sound and add a saw tooth string sound from zynaddsubfx. But that is not complete enough to leave the ensoniq off. It still plays the nu string plus cello.
Thanks in advance, :D

Download and unzip the following 3 files from http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/sfz

jg_violins.zip
cellos.zip
bass_sect.zip

Save the following attached strings.txt file, rename it to strings.sfz, and load it into LinuxSampler.

If you want strings layered with a piano, then download LittleLizardPiano_LSfix.zip and use the attached piano_strings.txt instead.

Actually, you may want to try my synth string sound. It has a lot of fullness, but a less biting attack which may actually be better for layering with a piano sound.

download synth_strings.zip and try the attached piano_synth.txt

Also, I don't know if you want to change the behavior of the damper pedal so that it doesn't hold the strings forever, but fades them out with the piano instead. Try pedal_synth.txt for that behavior.

There is a great synth-string patch in the zynaddsubfx 'unsorted sounds' folder,
that may still be in it's sourceforge page, but you have to root around, as the
collection is not in a folder where you would expect it. Probably a 3.2 minute search.

and then audition them until you find it.

There is a soundfont "Cadenza Strings" that is pretty useful.
The discoDSP Bliss sampler can be used to make some Bliss programs,
utilizing it's envelopes, filters, and effects. Although officially out of beta,
Bliss is still under heavy developement. Has great potential to take that
great preset, and make it 'greater according to you' 8)

Hi Jeff,
had today time to test your new strings and i like them a lot :D .
It is a good combination with the piano.

Hi Glowrak,
i found a different preset Chimes from Geofry, if I remember correctly, but I will try new ones that fit well. Every sound makes you ;play a little else and try other stuff.

Thanks both of you,
Best wishes for the new year,
Greetings Arthur
