Mellotron

Post by j_e_f_f_g »

The infamous "string machine" used throughout the late 60s and early 70s. Not samples of a real one, but rather a stereo facsimile. I call it the "mellowtron".

jeffg apology:

License details on:
I can see 4 licenses, my question is:

Attribution Noncommercial: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/

this means that you can not make commercial music with these sfz?

It's my intent that you use my sfz's for making music, commercial or otherwise. The NC clause applies to selling the sfz's themselves.

The magazine wouldn't be selling the linux distro, so I don't see any problem there.

Nah, I'll stick to firing up my 1970 M400

But seriously, I have samples of my M400, and if you want to do a sampler package of the real thing, I could actually help you. Only issue is, I have two tapes that have been replaced, and they are terribly out of tune with the rest of the tapes.

I can fix the tuning. Upload the waves somewhere for me to download, and I'll make you an sfz.

Hey j_e_f_f, I've mirrored this file here https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/134 . You contribute a lot of sample libraries on this forum so feel free to use the site in the future if you want.

The wikisend links are good only for about 90 days, and then they expire. Glen M, the guy who makes AvLinux, has a permanent hosting site at http://www.bandshed.net/sounds/sfz where he archives all of the sfz's. Links should point there, instead of wikisend.

OTOH, my internet provider stopped offering free web page hosting where I had my MIDI page. I had written up full explanations of the MIDI spec, MIDI file format, Sample Dump standard, etc. Normally, you have to buy all this stuff from the MMA. These are not reproductions of MMA materials. I wrote them up myself. In fact, Tom White, the president of the MMA, even sent me an email saying he liked the site and was glad that it doesn't violate any MMA copyrights unlike many other midi sites. I've been looking for a new place for all this material, so if you want to host it, that would be good.

But the thing is that the html pages have embedded links to themselves, as well as some jpg/gif/midi files, so everything needs to be placed in the same directory, or links will be broken. I can upload the contents of the site to wikisend if you want to migrate it.

Jeff, both github and sourceforge offer free site hosting for developers. You might consider using that space for your midi writeup. See https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/documen ... 0Services/

Yeah if you need free hosting space for HTML I'd recommend Github Pages (https://help.github.com/articles/user-o ... ject-pages) with the added advantage that the files will be available as a git repository for versioning, pull requests, etc..

If you need help feel free to PM me.
