Noob question about linuxsampler as a plugin

I run linuxsampler as a plugin in Rosegarden, with Jsampler as the GUI front-end. Whenever I add a linuxsampler channel in Rosegarden, an empty instrument appears in Jsampler as expected. I can load that instrument and it works fine; however, when I try to add more instruments and set their output to plugin, I get so sound from them. Is it possible to have multiple instruments outputting to the same Rosegarden channel?
