Looking for a simple sampler to use with QTractor
Hi people,
very happy to be part of this interesting community.
I have learned here about QTractor and I am learning to use it, I like it very much.
I want to ask you for a recommendation of a simple sampler to use inside QTractor or along QTractor. I may use anything from 8 to 16 tracks in a song, so not really that much sophistication needed.
Thanks in advance,
Fatma

You can try Drumkv1 and Samplv1 from the same Qtractor's creator.
https://drumkv1.sourceforge.io/
https://samplv1.sourceforge.io/

Definitely consider using sfizz with SFZ virtual instruments from Bandshed's SFZ collection, Musical Artifacts, and/or Virtual Playing Orchestra.

Re: Looking for a simple sampler to use with QTractor
Hi @LAM,
I just downloaded both samplv1 and drumkv1, they come as appimage files
I marked them as executable and I can run them now, their screens show up, but I do not know how to make them appear as plug-ins inside QTractor, any help will be highly appreciated.

Re: Looking for a simple sampler to use with QTractor
To get started, download SFZ virtual instrument from one of the sites I linked to above. Let's say you have downloaded the Little Lizard Piano from the Bandshed site and extracted the zip file to somewhere. In QTractor, Open the sfizz plugin, it has a sine wave as the default sound. Click on "DefaultInstrument", it will show you a file selector. Find one of the sfz files from the extracted zip file (for example piano_88.sfz). Open it, and you are ready to play.

I made this because I needed a simple sampler.

If you run the AppImage they will run as standalone, you need the LV2 version to make them show in Qtractor (or in another DAW/host).Fatima wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 12:38 am Hi @LAM,

I usually install them from my distro's repository, or you can download the tar.gz files and compile them by yourself.

You can do this:Fatima wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 12:38 am Hi @LAM,

- download binaries from https://launchpad.net/~rncbc
- download source codes to compile from https://launchpad.net/~rncbc
- download from the repository of your OS
Installing the binaries or the ones from the repository of your OS will make them available as plugins in Qtractor.

Re: Looking for a simple sampler to use with QTractor
Hey @TAERSH thank you for the tip!
I went to:
https://launchpad.net/~rncbc/+archive/u ... pps-bionic
Then followed the installation instructions as per:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:rncbc/apps-bionic
sudo apt-get update
then I did:
sudo apt install drumkv1
sudo apt install samplv1
My Linux says that they are already installed, but then I cannot find them in Qtractor, I tried in LADSPA, DSSI, VST and LV2
Maybe they appear with another name?
Or do I have to do anything else?
Any hint will be highly appreciated
Thanks in advance
