Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
Hello,
Guitarix, Rakarrak or Tonelib are the applications I use for my electric guitars.
But these applications don't provide a virtual amplifier for an acoustic guitar.
How I can hear just the raw sound of an acoustic guitar through my speakers without any effect at all?
Many thanks for your help!
Achille

This one may fit:
https://github.com/brummer10/GxVmk2.lv2/tree/master
but true, it could add some reverb and/or vibe, but that is of by default.

Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
Will that need any plugin, or is it just matter of adjusting volume to be suitable?

Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
The solution proposed by tramp (GxVmk2) is indeed the kind of plugin/application I'm after.
Just a silly question: how do I find similar plugins in order to examine if some of them may be of use for me?

Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
Beside the GxVmk2, the GxUVox720k may suite your needs.
https://github.com/brummer10/GxUVox720k.lv2/tree/master
The question for how to find similar plugs (for linux) is not so easy, as most open source plugins didn't own a channel where 'publishing' is ongoing. It will be more easy for you to look for commercial plugs (best look for vst2 or vst3 and use them with wine), as users of them been more involved to pronounce what they use and why.

Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
This Pete Thorn video is real good,
https://youtu.be/emAxUzcihP0
At the 6 minute mark, he emphasizes and demonstrates guitar picks, as a crucial part of recording. While also demoing a high-end channelstrip plugin, I think the settings there could apply to the Ardour channelstrip and in Harrison Mixbus, Ardour's inexpensive commercial cousin. The video has lots of details on using filters and compression properly. I seriously will be taking notes, as black friday was shiny new string day here, at Guitar Center, Ernie Ball 3-packs are $13.95
For Rakarrack, choose the bank 3 Jazz Hall preset, and turn off all modules except the EQ and compressor, and use the suggested settings from the video where possible. You can record the output in 24 bit in jackd Timemachine.
In Bank 2, there are acoustic presets you can use in like manner, that also have
a parametric EQ, and many subtle extras you can craft and save favorite combos,
that match the specs of your guitar output, be it mic or line.
Customizing your string and gauge selection for your guitar's particular box, and the style most often played, is also crucial.
These videos have lot's of chat and branding surrounding the meat of the discussion:

Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
Why do you want any 'amp' coloration to your acoustic at all whether it is tube emulation or transistor?Achille17 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 27, 2021 9:48 pm Hello,

If performing live why not some light compression and EQ to tame any piezo squelchiness or if recording why not any decent condenser mic (even an entry-level Audio technica AT 2010 or 2020 can work wonders)
Acoustic + amplification = more volume and less tonal quality IMHO
Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
Maybe I should have explained more precisely the reason of my question.
I've just bought a PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo.
My problem is that with the Piezo only I'm unable to reproduce a sound as close to an acoustic guitar as possible. To my ears, it sounds just like an ordinary electric guitar.

Re: Amp for an acoustic guitar without any effect
So you are not looking for a Amp, but for a Acoustic Guitar Simulator.
As far I know there is non for linux native, but you could use a Impulse response loader with a IR file from here:

BlueCat have a nice acoustic solution, and the demo will have periodic fade-outs,
rather than noise-bursts. At 14 min, in the first video, the acoustic portions are introduced, and on a second guitasr.

Bluecat software should run in modern wine-staging with plugins wrapped by linvst or yabridge,
hosted by Reaper and other good linux daws, based on my experience with their Axiom, Acoufiend,
FreeAmp, and free effects bundle.
