Vector mixer and signal switcher for Csound

Post by jeanette_c »

Hey hey, I have just released a bundle of Csound UDOs implemeneting vector mixers and signal switchers, with and without wrap around and blending.
http://juliencoder.de/sound/vector_mixer-1.0.zip
The vector mixers take a control or audio input signal and sequentially distribute it among a vector (array) of output channels.
the signal switchers do the opposite, taking a vector (array) of input signals and sequentially mixing them to one output signal.
At high control rates and switching speeds the signal switchers may be used to achieve something like complex phase distortion synthesis, as introduced by Casio in the early 80s and now continued in software synthesizers like WaveRazzor.
These modules have been inspired by modular/eurorack utilities. The ARP 2600 has a discrete switcher and there are a few vector mixers as eurorack modules around. To some extent this also encroaches into hyper vectorial synthesis territory, as made popular by the Sequential Circuits Prophet VS and other synths of that ilk.
I hope someone finds good uses for them. There are examples for all opcodes included in the bundle.
Best wishes, Jeanette
