Guitarix maybe.. any bass amp plugins out there?

Post by DrMeatball »

What is everyone using for bass amp plugins? If it comes to it I can reamp no problem, but I'd prefer a DI and plugin combination :)

I have https://audioassault.mx/duality.php but cannot really say is it good, because haven't been producing much after getting it, so no bass to record this far.

Edit: if you have older distribution like me, there may be problems using their plugins: their recent plugins are compiled with Ubuntu 20.04, dynamically linked, and won't work in ubuntu 18.04, because glibc version mismatch. They have promised to fix, but will see.

I extremely dig guitarix SVT Ampeg simulation, it sounds nice on my cheap no-name bass. Got a carla project which I use on almost every project and then tweak it during mixing.
Here's the screenshot and the project, perhaps it works for you, certainly will need some tweaking on your side
As plugins you'll gonna need caps, gxplugins, LSP, squeezer and dragonfly to run it, in Arch they're all available if you include AUR.

I usually use something from the Guitarix family, either the standard Guitarix amp with built-in cabinet simulator, or one of the others (I'm quite fond of GxFenderizer) with a separate cabinet simulatior.

As a suggestion/idea check out ModDuo's pedalboards https://pedalboards.moddevices.com/?text=bass, they are all official Linux plugins so you can implement them on your computer.
