Hi people!

Do you know some Synth that use physical modelling?

Thanks!

Vital and Vitalium can both do physical modeling. See this tutorial for a basic idea

I discovered that @CrocoDuck is working in something about that too.

I saw @unfa doing something like that in one of their last live videos and I tried that in the moment.

Do yo know some technique to make pipes or reeds with this filter? or the Combo filter work only for plucked strings and strings?

Maybe working in the envelope or LFO can a have goods wind sounds? Or I need to think in an other specific filter?

Thanks!

Oh hey there!

Thanks for the shout-out, but I must clarify the nature of the project. At the moment, it is about writing tutorials about setting up simulations of acoustics with open source solvers, not so much about developing plugins. I plan at some point to maybe turn an impulse response in a filter with Faust or something like that, but this is not a physical modeling synth plugin project. I do not exclude I might work on physical modeling plugins more closely in the future, though.

My favorite physical modeling synths which are available on Linux are those by Moddart: https://www.modartt.com/. They are not free, but the demo is quite functional and definitely worth to try.

Since I mentioned Faust, here the link: https://faust.grame.fr/. If you feel like coding your plugins Faust has brilliant libraries for that and recently there have been numerous seminars about the topic, for example: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOw06o ... sLhiJe03bQ

I've seen the modeling trick with the keytracked comb filter used to model pipe organs, so I would assume not. I can't find the video where I saw that though - if I remember right it was Venus Theory's first 2h video on Vital.
