Does anyone know of a plugin that displays inbound midi on a staff and identifies chords?
The idea is... feed in some midi and see in real time the current notes displayed on a staff and the name of the chord produced by them. Just what's being played now, not something that builds a score from what's played - nothing as complicated as that!
Something I've seen before that does this is called Classroom Maestro but I'd like to find something similar that is open source and Linux native.
A plugin to display notes on staff and identify chords?

Yes, that kind of thing... except I'd like a Linux native and open source plugin.

I wonder if this could be written as a webpage with https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/doc ... patibility - would be a fun project! Anyone want to do this with me in https://elm-lang.org/ ?starfry wrote: ↑Sat Mar 20, 2021 3:55 pm Does anyone know of a plugin that displays inbound midi on a staff and identifies chords?

When you don't have a MIDI device attached, perhaps we could use the 'regular' keyboard keys (so with ZXCVBNM representing CDEFGAB, like jack-keyboard http://jack-keyboard.sourceforge.net/ and friends) to toggle keys
(I did not look at Classroom Maestro / Chordie since if we pick this up we should probably find our own way and not 'copy' existing projects)

Hi, you may be interested in this standalone jack application. It only prints the chord names; it doesn't display notes on a staff (would be hard to do since it's a command line application). I hope this may be helpful for you.
