Recording Classical guitar in Ardour 6
I'm using Ardour 6 on AVLinux 64 bit, Debian Buster for initial recording.
After that I like using Mixbus 6 for final edits.
At the moment I'm looking for best ways to record my classical guitar.
I have 2 interfaces with some different results regarding sound quality,
a Zoom H2N USB mic (my favorite so far for this project) and a Presonus Audiobox USB 2x2 (using a nice saddle mount pickup).
Does anyone here have suggestions for their favorite plugins or Youtube vids regarding Classical guitar recording?
Particularly thinking towards fine tuning sound quality, and equalizer use?

Hi there, check this video out, I think it may help you with what you are looking for. He uses some calf plugins and makes his acoustic guitar sound improve quite considerably:

I would also work hard comparing configurations to get the best with your gear. I record 'auditions' in the same project and compare.
Far better to have a good take to work with

Re: Recording Classical guitar in Ardour 6
I record different configurations of my mics and gear and see which sounds better. I basically audition them.
This allows you to easily compare mic placements and combinations. I found it worth the time and effort because when it is time to record a project I already know what I will use. I do a series on the same track in a project so I can listen and compare, one after another.
For my acoustic guitar, I have my large diaphragm condenser where the sound hole and neck meet and a dynamic mic on the bridge.

Re: Recording Classical guitar in Ardour 6
You inspired me to play with my mic positions on a current project, and I'm loving the sounds I am getting from a similar setup, but with two dynamic mics. Thanks for the tip!English Guy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 4:01 pmFor my acoustic guitar, I have my large diaphragm condenser where the sound hole and neck meet and a dynamic mic on the bridge.

Fantastic. I do this with various boxes, amp sims etc as well. It is very easy to compare when you use your DAW
