I tried to set up tonespace http://www.mucoder.net/en/tonespace/ in Ardour
There is a tutorial for Logic Pro: https://youtu.be/cfCz7pivcHY
I created a midi track to load tonespace as VST plugin and another midi track to record the chords played in tonespace. In the midi connection manager of ardour I connected the tonespace out to the record-midi track in. Unfortunately there is no input detected on the record midi track no matter which midi out option I select in tonespace.
Is a computer keyboard midi controller like in the video available in linux?

Re: tonespace setup in Ardour
Hi,
right now I've created 2 midi Ardour tracks (first with tonespace), connected midi out of first track to midi in of second in qjackctl graph, set midi out in tonespace to vst host, armed second track for recording, pressed record, play and it recorded.
If you've selected correct output in tonespace and track isn't receiving midi, I think the problem lies somewhere in connections between tracks.
As for keyboard, I didn't tested it, but I think jack-keyboard (http://jack-keyboard.sourceforge.net/) may be something that you're looking for.

Re: tonespace setup in Ardour
If you create a MIDI track and first load tonespace - "host" sync - and then load a synthesizer, Ardour will record the MIDI notes from tonespace, right?

These are my connections:
But - no recording: Same Problem if I load both tonespace and synth into one midi channel.
Thanks for the jack-keyboard and the step entry I didn't know that

Re: tonespace setup in Ardour
It looks like Tonespace has a config option, "MIDI Out", which you need to set up as "VST Host" in order to record the output in Ardour.

Midi Out is already set to VST Host in tonespace. You can see if you enlarge the screenshot

Also "midi in" to "VST/AU host"?
